Mississippi Escaped Prisoner Nabbed in Unsuspected Location

According to this Clarion Ledger report, Gregory "Prime Time" Hobson was a prisoner in the Hinds County Detention Center, being held on charges for failure to pay child support. He was not a presumed flight risk; but he did escape the center earlier this month. He was recently apprehended at a Tupelo, MS club. Apparently Hobson works as a male dancer and was on stage preparing to perform his routine when he was arrested by Hinds County investigators.

No Action for the Suicide of a Pre-Trial Detainee

This 3rd Circuit opinion discusses the uphill showing of proof required to state a cause of action for the suicide death of a pretrial detainee. Summary Judgment was granted to the jail since there was no showing that Plaintiff's decedent was at risk for suicide. Even if such a showing is made, there must next be proof that the jail acted with deliberate indifference to this risk of suicide. Very tough cases indeed.
